Dr. Bob Suggs

Dr. Robert Suggs has been involved in Marquesan studies since 1956 when he conducted the first stratigraphic archeological fieldwork in the Marquesas islands for the American Museum of Natural History, NY. He has published extensively on Marquesan archeology and ethnology. He remains active in the field of Marquesan studies, conducting archeological excavations, research and teaching at the Windward College Institute for Hawaiian and Polynesian Studies. He is a Marquesan/French interpreter and cultural consultant for journalism seminars in the Marquesan conducted by the University of Georgia's Cox Center.
